Mission Statement
by posted 11/27/2007

Mission Statement

The mission of the New England Rhinos AAA/AA Youth Hockey Associationwill stress the principles of good sportsmanship, leadership, teamwork and respect for authority through the fundamentals of ice-skating, and elements of hockey. We will create a positive learning environment and encourage personal development through education and sport.

Although winning is a desired outcome of this program, positive team and individual development, as well as instruction of good sportsmanship towards the junior athletes, will not be sacrificed to the goal of winning. Winning is not everything.

The best interest of the young athletes involved in the program will be the controlling factors on any actions taken by the Rhinos Association. Furthermore, the organization will encourage participation of parents and players through positive support and adherence to the organization’s rules and guidelines.

"For all of us who have children in minor hockey, it's not about becoming a professional athlete. It's about the journey and the people that you meet along the way. The life lessons that you get from playing this incredible game."

Mark Messier
2007 NHL Hall of Fame Acceptance Speech
